NWI BCTC Endorses Regional Transportation Improvement Plan
The Northwestern Indiana Building & Construction Trades Council has announced its support for the Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission’s (NIRPC) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), a federally guided, multi-year plan outlining transportation infrastructure investments across Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties.
The TIP directs funding toward highway improvements, transit projects, and regional infrastructure upgrades — initiatives that generate significant union construction employment for NWI’s affiliated trades and their members.
The council views investment in regional infrastructure as a direct investment in the working families of Northwest Indiana. Projects funded through the TIP create skilled trades jobs, strengthen the regional economy, and build the roads, bridges, and transit systems our communities depend on.
The council encourages members, contractors, and community partners to stay engaged with regional planning efforts and their impact on local union employment.
